Coach Registration - Girls

Your application will be reviewed by the appropriate Athletic Director and you will be notified of acceptance via email.
All CYO Coaches must be certified to coach prior to each sports season.
Below are certification requirements, safe environment requirements and current information on CYO Coaches' Certification Workshops.
CYO Coaches' Certification
All CYO Coaches must be certified to coach prior to each sports season.  This page contains certification requirements, safe environment requirements and current information on CYO Coaches' Certification Workshops.
Coaches' Certification Workshops - Workshops to certify coaches will be held prior to the beginning of each sport season. Coaches who attend a Coaches' Certification Workshop, and who meet program requirements, will be certified to coach in that sport for that school year.  If you are late (come after registration has ended), you will not be admitted.  They are pretty strict on this -- so please be on time.
Attendance at a Workshop during that school year and prior to that sport season is mandatory for all coaches and assistant coaches. Coaches must attend the entire workshop to be certified. (Without a certified coach, a team may not participate in CYO.)
St Joan pays only for the Tri-Valley Certification Class.  If you attend any other certification, you will have to pay at the door.  Workshops will include CYO philosophy, rules, and safety procedures.
Additional Requirements for NEW Coaches/Assistant Coaches

Safe Environment Training. Here is a link to where you can register for and take the online training: Diocese Page With Link to Virtus Registration.  Here is a link to step by step instructions on How you Complete the Registration and which online course to take.  This is a NEW online training provider....and the course is called "Protecting God's Children for Adults (Online Training).  Be sure to print your completion certificate and bring it with you to the Workshop along with photo ID.

Get Fingerprinted. Coaches who have been successfully fingerprinted for the Diocese of Oakland (CYO or another diocesan agency) do not have to be re-fingerprinted.  Please note that the Tri-Valley Fingerprinting Opportunity is AFTER the season starts.  Click Here for a Complete List of Fingerprinting Opportunities.

Returning Coaches from the Previous Season

Coaches who were certified to coach CYO last season DO NOT need to re-complete Safe Environment Training.  Returning coaches should bring their previous season's CYO Certification Card -or- their Safe Environment Training Certificate to their workshop to prove completion.

For All Coaches (New and Returning)
Bring Photo Identification.  ALL coaches are required to show their driver’s license or other picture ID at workshop registration. A coach with no ID will not be issued a certification card until ID is provided.
Additional Certification Requirements.  The certified coaches of the team must be high school age or older. Coaches are screened following Coaches Workshops under the provisions of "Megan's Law" and will be fingerprinted. (See fingerprint section, below.) Coaches must agree to follow the "Diocesan Safe Environment "Code of Conduct Involving Interaction with Minors."
Certification Cards.  Certification cards are presented to coaches who complete program requirements at the end of the workshop. All coaches should carry their certification cards with them to all the games and be prepared to present them when requested. Failure to present a card within 48 hours will result in a forfeit for the team. Any person on the bench or in the dugout (excluding team members and scorekeepers) must have a valid certification card.
Finally, here is the Coaches' Certification Registration Form.  If you complete this ahead of time, and bring it with you to the Certification Class, it saves time.
